If it seems like everyone’s making a gratitude list this year, you’re right. Have you checked your Facebook feed lately? We’re willing to bet more than a few of your friends are posting daily lists of the things they’re thankful for in these days leading up to Thanksgiving.
We’ve got a few things to be thankful for here at PNSolutions, too, not the least of which is you – our loyal customers and fans! We appreciate your trust in us and your willingness to put your computer needs in our hands. We thank you for valuing our experience and knowledge when you have a problem or need advice on the next steps for your small business’ computing needs. You’re the reason we do what we do, and we wouldn’t be growing without you!
We’ve also got a few technologies that we’re grateful for, whether they keep us connected or keep us safe. So, without further ado, here is the tech we’re thankful for. What tech are you thankful for? Tell us in the comments below, or join the conversation on Facebook.
From storing our music and movies to our backed-up files, we can’t imagine life without the cloud. Our cloud customers know that if you want to make your office mobile, moving files and software to the cloud is the way to go. It lets your employees access the files and information they need on the go, on the fly – from anywhere. It makes your business more responsive and customer focused, and we think that’s a good thing.
Plus, the cloud is an excellent way to back up your important files and information. When disaster strikes, you don’t want your back-up housed in the same place as your computer network. An off-site cloud storage solution gives you the peace of mind that all is not lost when the worst happens.
It’s not new, but it seems like in the last year or two, social media has become a required part of doing business. We love that social media like Facebook and Twitter let us communicate with you in a new way. We’ve enjoyed sharing breaking security news and amazing tech stories, and we always love seeing your comments and opinions on the things we post. We hope you’ll keep talking with us!
We’re also personal users like you, and while we know there are definite drawbacks to social media (like how much time we spend there some days), we’re amazed at the way it can connect us to friends and family who are far away and reconnect us with long-lost loved ones we might not otherwise be able to find.
Admit it – you’ve passed more than a little time playing a stupid game. It’s OK. We get it. Waiting rooms, subway and bus rides, and the few minutes before your friend shows up pass a little faster when you’ve got Candy Crush or Clash of Clans with you. Might we have read a book before? Maybe. But now we can do that with an app.
Or we can play Angry Birds.
The Smart Phone
Imagine your day without your modern-day Swiss Army Knife – your smartphone. (We can’t take credit for that analogy; hat tip to Level(3) Communications blog.)
You can’t imagine it, can you? In just a few short years, smartphones have become the accessory you can’t live without. Among other things, our smartphones are our:
- Messaging and email platform
- Watch and alarm clock
- Loyalty cards
- Shopping cart
- Day planner
- Address book
- Fitness tracker
- Shopping cart
- Kid entertainer
… and so much more. And for small businesses, smartphones make it easier for your employees to work on the go and easily connect back to the office.
We’ve been posting weekly to the Tech Talk blog for a little more than a year now, and we love it as another way we can reach our customers and potential customers. Education is a big part of what we do here at PNSolutions, and our blog allows us to teach you about security, tech terms, online marketing, and more. We want you to understand the technology you use in your daily life so that you’re not mystified by and afraid of it.
Don’t get us wrong, the Internet is an amazing and wonderful place. We can’t imagine life without it! But it can also be a dangerous place, from spam and phishing scams aiming to get your personal information to viruses that can attack through suspicious websites, files, and emails. Luckily, most of us can click away happily thanks to antivirus software and password protectors like LastPass. They let us know when something seems a little strange and lock the doors tight when someone tries to attack. There’d be a lot more hassle and heartbreak for us all without these safeguards in place.
What tech are you thankful for? We hope you’ll let us know in the comments here and on our Facebook page.
And if you ever have a problem with your technology, we hope you’ll call PNSolutions. We can help you will all your business and personal computing needs!
